This is an exciting chapter focused on keeping Queenslanders working through innovation, integrity and high-quality service delivery.

About the Opportunity: General Manager Employer

Reporting to the Chief Operating and Technology Officer (COTO), the General Manager Employer (internally known as such, but advertised as General Manager Stakeholder to reflect the core focus of the role) is a pivotal leadership role. You will drive the long-term strategy for our Employer function, evolving our strategic account management and employer partnerships. Using a data-led, customer-centric approach, you will ensure our service models meet the diverse needs of Queensland businesses while achieving the best possible return-to-work outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the long-term strategy for the Employer function, establishing a clear roadmap for capability uplift, governance maturity and alignment with WorkCover’s broader organisational goals;

  • Establish and oversee a best-practice account management framework that delivers differentiated service models across diverse employer sectors, ensuring WorkCover is positioned as a trusted strategic partner;

  • Build, lead and mentor a high-performing team of account management specialists, fostering an inclusive culture of continuous improvement, accountability and high-quality service delivery;

  • Provide expert thought leadership to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board, managing high-level relationships to influence employer-focused prevention strategies and return-to-work outcomes;

  • Leverage data, analytics and CRM technology to drive proactive risk identification and evidence-based interventions, ensuring all employer-specific initiatives deliver measurable improvements in engagement; and

  • Design and implement comprehensive reporting frameworks and performance mechanisms to ensure the Employer group meets strategic objectives, remains within budget and adheres to risk guidelines.

About You:

You are a proactive leader who is comfortable navigating change. You have a track record of integrating commercial objectives with effective stakeholder management to drive high-level organisational outcomes

You Will Possess:

  • 10+ years of experience leading employer or stakeholder relationship functions, with a proven track record of building and motivating high-performing teams;

  • Demonstrated experience designing and embedding strategic account management frameworks, including tiering models aligned to risk and value;

  • Experience leading teams through enterprise-wide transformation and acting as a lead sponsor for cross-functional initiatives (e.g. CRM implementations);

  • Strong financial literacy with the ability to understand the financial impacts of employer decisions and manage complex budgets;

  • A track record of success within regulated industries, underpinned by the ability to interpret and apply legislative requirements to drive compliant, customer-centric employer outcomes; and

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, or a similar discipline is required; postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
