Join a critical utilities organisation as an HR Business Partner, providing generalist advice across recruitment, performance, ER and workforce design. Partner with leaders to deliver the People & Culture strategy, supporting an essential service for Queensland.
In this 6-month contract placement provide strategic and hands-on HR partnership, enabling leaders to build capable, compliant and high-performing teams across a complex organisation.
Key responsibilities
Act as the primary people advisor to senior leaders within allocated business units;
Deliver practical, commercially focused guidance across the employee lifecycle;
Coach leaders on managing performance, conduct, capability and workforce risks;
Support workforce planning, talent development and leadership effectiveness initiatives;
Provide expert input on role design, job sizing and remuneration alignment;
Manage and advise on complex employee relations matters, including investigations;
Interpret and apply industrial frameworks, policies and employment legislation;
Build trusted relationships to position the HR function as a valued strategic partner;
Handle escalated or ad-hoc people queries, directing specialist support where required; and
Uphold safety, quality and environmental standards in all people-related activities.
Ideal Candidate
An experienced HR generalist with tertiary qualifications and over five years’ HR experience, ideally in a business partnering capacity. You have strong industrial relations expertise and extensive knowledge of employment legislation, with a proven ability to interpret and apply complex frameworks. Skilled at coaching and mentoring senior leaders, you excel at building trusted relationships and influencing positive outcomes. You have experience supporting geographically dispersed teams, developing HR policies and processes, and delivering practical, compliant, and strategic people solutions in dynamic, regulated environments.
