Love Brisbane? Love major events? Here's your chance to combine the two and help attract exciting new events to our city.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Major Events, you will play a key role in identifying, assessing, attracting and securing major sporting, cultural and mass participation events for Brisbane.

Working across event acquisition, business development, contract negotiations and stakeholder engagement, you will help shape Brisbane's future events calendar. Your work will contribute to driving visitation, supporting the local economy and strengthening the city's position as a leading major events destination.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, research, assess and evaluate opportunities to attract major and mass participation events to Brisbane;

  • Contribute to business development and event acquisition activities, including proposals and contract negotiations;

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with event rights holders, government departments and industry partners;

  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, business cases and submissions to support event investment decisions;

  • Collaborate with internal teams to maximise the value and impact of secured events; and

  • Support contract management, governance, reporting and CRM processes.

About you

BEDA is looking for a commercially minded events professional who understands the major events landscape and enjoys identifying opportunities, building trusted relationships and helping secure events that deliver value for Brisbane.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Significant relevant experience within major events, sport, cultural events or a related industry, with five years’ experience as a guide;

  • Proven experience in business development, event acquisition or commercial partnerships;

  • Strong contract negotiation and stakeholder management experience;

  • An understanding of Brisbane and Queensland's major events industry and visitor economy;

  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience preparing proposals, reports and business cases;

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities;

  • A proactive, collaborative approach and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders; and

  • A genuine passion for Brisbane and its future as a major events destination.

What's on offer?

  • Opportunity to play a part in attracting major events to Brisbane;

  • Work with a collaborative and well-connected team across the events industry;

  • Brisbane CBD location with flexible working; and

  • Full-time contract opportunity with a purpose driven organisation.
